Veganism is the practice of abstaining from the use of animal products. —Wikipedia
One day the absurdity of the almost universal human belief in the slavery of other animals will be palpable. We shall then have discovered our souls and become worthier of sharing this planet with them.
—Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
A human being is a part of the whole, called by us the "Universe," a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest - a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.
A man can live and be healthy without killing animals for food; therefore, if he eats meat, he participates in taking animal life merely for the sake of his appetite. And to act so is immoral.

The Horse Meat Scandals Reveal We Are More Psychologically Screwed Up Than We Realised About Eating Animals
Everyone's getting upset because horses are turning up in our dinners rather than cows. But is it possible that this 'scandal' is revealing more about our relationships with animals and conflicts in our inner psyches, than the nutritional content of our meals?
We develop relationships with certain animals, such as horses, dogs and cats, so we assume they have 'minds'. But other animals, such as cows, are not kept as pets or companions, and therefore we decide they are 'mindless', in comparison to horses.
No surprises here. Everyone seems to be talking about it.

Harvard Declares Dairy NOT Part of Healthy Diet
The Harvard experts also referred to the high levels of saturated fat in most dairy products and suggested that collards, bok choy, fortified soy milk, and baked beans are safer choices than dairy for obtaining calcium, as are high quality supplements. More…
I know well that a diet of plants only has been a wacky idea for many folks for a long time, but so be it. I now believe otherwise.
It's no longer wacky.
This idea becomes bigger and bigger with the passing of time. It begins with our choice of which foods to eat, but it then expands into other areas of our lives far beyond what we might have envisioned.
Ultimately, it is the very survival of our planet that is at stake.
